VISION The vision of the Advanced Academics Program is to provide a climate which values and nurtures the talents and potential of gifted and talented students and prepares them to be contributing members of the world and successful in their life.

MISSION The mission of the Advanced Academic Program is to meeting the needs of the gifted students. The curriculum that is designed is integrated, project-based, significant, relevant, and rigorous.

GOALS The goals for 2018-2019 are to: Promote critical thinking and reasoning abilities Develop and expand thinking skills Utilize differentiated strategies for learning Build / extend cognitive language skills Facilitate opportunities for learning Develop project-based (STEM) integrated learning activities

STEM (Project-Based Learning) STEAM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in five specific disciplines — Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the five disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEAM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.

FIRST LEGO League FIRST LEGO League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. The students will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, the students will operate under the FIRST signature set of core values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and professionalism.

Annual “Engineer It” Competition Science Museum Students will engineer and test variety of models of their choice. Float It Fly It Drop It Launch It Clean It Thrill It

Community Garden Roots and Shoots Club (Jane Goodall’s Institute) Using the “Design Thinking Process”, students will design and build garden beds and grow vegetables and fruit of their choice to benefit their immediate community. They will follow the foot steps of Jane Goodall and make a difference in the world through their actions. They will maintain the gardens throughout the year.
