War time America

Zimmerman Telegram It was an internal diplomatic communication issued from the German foreign office in January of 1917. Basically it asked for an alliance between Germany and Mexico if the United States decided to also join in on World war 1, but this proposal was intercepted and decoded by the British. Germany basically wanted Mexico to help them defeat or be able to at least compete with the united states military. They wanted Mexico to help out because they knew that the united states was coming to fight against them. In the telegram Germany promised Mexico all the land it lost to the United states to be given back if they was able to defeat the united states which included New Mexico , Texas , and Arizona.

Sinking of Lusitania The ship sank on Friday may 7th 1915. The ship was identified and torpedoed by the Germans. The ship then began sinking and it took 18 minutes for the ship to completely sink. The ship also sank 11 miles off The Old Head Of Kinsale in Ireland killing 1,201 people and the other 761 people survived. Germany sank the ship because it was an enemy ship and it had weapons aboard.

Impact on American Society We had an economical advantage during the war because nobody fought on American soil. Therefore we still had our businesses and industries because nobody was fighting over on American soil like in Europe so while they was blowing up and destroying their industries America became the world leader in production and economical strength. We also did not send as many troops as all the other countries so we had a lot more back at home here in America just in case we needed them and also not as many of our solders died. now we are considered a very strong and decent Military.

Rationing Program and impact on Women society. Definition/what does it mean? “It is a fixed allowance of provisions or food, especially for soldiers or sailors or for civilians during a shortage.” Basically with all the men in the army left very few farmers if any at all so there was food shortages. Also with all the men gone into the army the women went to work at the factories and other industries.

America’s impact on WW1 America really just came in toward the end to try and help end the war against Germany. America ended the war for their allies by helping them defeat Germany earlier than they would have before America joined in.

Did America win WW1 for the allies? America did end the war earlier for sure. So we think that yes America did win World War 1 for the allies because they ended the war. If America hadn’t been in the war fighting against Germany there's no telling how long the war would have continued.
