AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS WELCOME AND OVERVIEW PEP GRANT ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION FITNESSGRAM WEB PAGE SAFARI MONTAGE RUNNING/WALKING CLUB

PEP GRANT OBJECTIVES Increase by 5% each project year, the number of students who meet the national target of 150(elementary) or 225( secondary) minutes spent weekly in vigorous athletic activity. Increase by 5% each year, the percentage of students meeting the national fitness norms Increase the percentage of students reporting an increase in physical activity outside school hours by 10% each program year Increase fitness in 10% of District students. Increase by 5% each year, the percentage of students meeting Oklahoma State Physical Education Standards Increase by I serving the average number of servings of fruits/vegetables eaten daily by middle and high school students, over three years.

PEP GRANT JOURNAL AND QUESTIONNAIRE PROCEDURES Students MUST PUT THEIR NAME ON THE JOURNALS Each student enrolled in physical education MUSTCOMPLETE A JOURNAL They need to include the activity and the number of minutes they were active. i.e. ran for 15 minutes Please include rigorous and moderate physical activity only. I know this will be difficult, do the best you can. Count class time that the students are actively involved in physical activity- not time enrolled in P.E They need to include activities they were involved in after school and on weekend as well.

HEALTHY AND FIT SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD Senate Bill 1627, the Healthy and Fit Kids Act of 2004, requires each public school in Oklahoma to establish a Healthy & Fit School Advisory Committee. A Healthy & Fit School Advisory Committee is an advisory group of at least six individuals who represent segments of the community (teacher, coach, student, administrator, parent, school nurse, health care professional, community member).  The group acts collectively to provide advice to the school regarding school health issues.  HFSAC are committed to creating healthy school environments so students may reach their learning potential. 

HEALTHY AND FIT SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE The primary focus of the Healthy and Fit School Advisory Committee is to: Establish healthy school nutrition environment Reduce childhood obesity Develop a quality physical education and activity program Establish, implement, and evaluate school wellness Healthier Schools = Healthier Students, Faculty, & Staff   Healthier Students, Faculty, & Staff = Improved academic achievement, Increased productivity, Increased morale, and Increased retention

DISTRICT WELLNESS COMMITTEE Meeting dates: Nov. 18, Jan. 20, March 24, May 19 Purpose: To promote wellness for students, faculty, staff, parents, and administrators of Tulsa Public Schools Monthly wellness calendar for faculty and staff Schedule activities twice monthly
