Briefly discuss the answers and show the three-minute YouTube video option (https://youtu.be/OqcRxoAnuxg). If you can’t view the video, explain to students, Search engines have two major functions: crawling and building an index, and providing search users with a ranked list of the websites they've determined are the most relevant. FS Unit 6: Lesson 8 Module 1 Teacher's Manual Which Search Engine is Best? FS Unit 6: Lesson 8 Module 1 Teacher's Manual Because the Internet is changing constantly from second to second, there isn’t one place where you can access all the information on the Internet. As you become familiar with performing search engine queries and the basic language and symbols to narrow your search you will be able to find most things on the Internet fast and easily! 1. Read the screen (or have a student read). Explain that, “most people typically use one to two search engines and most often it is the search engine associated with their email provider. Typically, they use sites they are most familiar and comfortable with. One of the most popular search engines is Google™.” © Copyright, 2015. Johns Hopkins University. All Rights Reserved.
