Who are the carers/ supporters? 80% of workers have homecare qualifications and/or experience Of the workers with homecare related qualifications, 42% were level 2-4 and 57% level 5-7 showing a broad range of skills. 69% of workers on Mycare are aged 16 to 50 88% of workers on Mycare are female (industry average in NZ is 94%*) 26% of workers speak two or more languages.

Mycare and DHB Funding? We are beginning to receive requests from DHB’s Mrs T – an elderly lady with dementia who over a 28 day period had 14 different carers. Her daughter requested a personal budget via Mycare and now chooses who comes into her home. Mrs P – an elderly lady with dementia was discharged wearing an aspen collar. Mycare has arranged for 2 night sitters to help Mrs P. We are exploring: In-home respite, kaumatua support, rural and hard to staff locations, 6-week post op groups, loneliness/ social isolation, LTC
