Rules Game objective: The objective is to achieve the highest score. Two teams compete by guessing the top 5 items in each category as well as their correct rank order within the top five. Setup: Divide the room into two teams (recommend 3 – 12 players per team) Determining who gets the round: To begin, the category question is shown, and the next team member in rotation from each team jots down what they believe to be the highest ranked or # 1 response within that category. On cue, the team 1 and team 2 player reveal their answer/guess to the facilitator. TEAM MEMBERS MAY NOT ASK FOR HELP FROM THEIR TEAMMATES. The facilitator, using the one page answer sheet provided, determines which of the two team’s answers is closest to the highest ranked or # 1 response. For example, let’s imagine that the category was “longest rivers”, and the team one player guessed Amazon, while the team two player guessed Nile, which actually is the longest river. The facilitator would reveal where on the board this answer appears (Nile #1 rank), scores 4 points for team two and awards the round to team 2, allowing this team to continue playing the round. An Alternative Method: Use the random team selector/tie breaker on the scoreboard to determine which team gets to play the round.

Rules A Tie: In the event both teams provide the same answer, or neither team provides a response which falls within the top five, the facilitator moves to the random team selector/tie breaker to determine which team will get to play the round. With or w/o clues: The team that wins the face off (the right to play the round) is given 30 seconds to determine if they wish to play on with clues (1 Point for a top five answer and an added point for the correct rank) or without clues (2 points for a top five answer and an added 2 points for the correct rank). The decision to play the round with or without clues is final and applies to the entire round. Playing the round: Each team member, in turn, provides a guess or response AND its ranking within the top 5. When a team member responds with one of the remaining top five answers, they receive team points and additional points when they also guess the correct rank order for their answer. If an answer NOT in the top five results is given, the team receives an X. The team must guess all five top answers to keep the points for the round. Xing out: Three X’s (incorrect responses) and the team must forfeit control of the round to the opposing team. The opposing team MUST complete all five top responses without giving an incorrect response in order to retain the points for the round. Points are totaled and recorded on the main scoreboard for the team that successfully completed the round (five correct responses).

Scoring Scoring Recap: 1. Two teams face off to see who gets the round – the winning team response is always awarded the maximum four points for this first answer. 2. For the remainder of the round played by a team using CLUES: Each team respondent earns one point for a top five response, and an added one point when the correct rank order is provided as well. (i.e. The Amazon as the 2nd longest river) 3. For the remainder of the round played by a team NOT using CLUES: the team respondent earns two points for a top five response, and an added two points when the correct rank order is provided. 4. All top five correct responses must be revealed on the board in order for the team to keep the accumulated round points. Only once a team has completed the round (all top five answers revealed) does the facilitator add and award the points to that team on the main scoreboard. Zero points for the round if neither team completes the round. 5. Bonus Round: ALL THE ABOVE POINT AWARDS ARE DOUBLED (8 points for the face off or initial response, 2 points for a top five response with clues, and 2 points for the correct rank order, 4 points for a top five response without clues, and 4 points for the correct rank order)
