Random Stuff and Keyframes Adobe Premiere Helper Random Stuff and Keyframes
Customize Timeline View If you want to see more a preview of the video files, click the button to see the frames or to show head/tail (default is just head)
Title Templates Little known fact… there are cool title templates!
Title Help Can’t figure out how to change a title’s color? Choose Fill on the right! You can even change it from Solid to Gradient! Note that you can change the Font, Font Size, lots of other stuff, at the top… check it out!
Fade a Title In and Out (like a blink) Put the title on a line and click on it Click Show Keyframes button Then, click to where you want to be able to see it fully and click the Insert Keyframe button and a dot appears (also look in your effect controls and you’ll see the diamond there, too
Now, drag to the beginning of the clip Click and add another keyframe Drag that keyframe to the bottom If you look at the Effects Control, you’ll see that it is at an opacity of 0 (invisible)
If you scrub (drag) the timeline you will now watch it fade in slowly between the two poitns!!
To fade it back out… you know what to do… Scrub to the end of the clip Insert keyframe Drag down to the bottom, zero
Just a side note If you want the title (or video or anything) to stay up awhile, you’ll want a fourth keyframe with points 2 and 3 both set to 100% or full opacity/visibility (more of a plateau than an upside down V)
Add a Picture on a Title Draw a shape for the picture using the shape tool At right under Object Style, click Rectangle and choose Logo instead (notice Logo shows up where the shape was) Click the Logo Bitmap box and then browse to find your image
Tada!
Remove White Background From Image If you’ve created a title with a logo and it’s one color, you might want to get rid of the color and just have the logo… Click the video/title and then under Effects (Project window) choose Video Effects and RGB Difference and drag it onto the clip
Ugh… Yeah, that turned out fuzzy… Quick fix in the Effect Controls window Increase “Similarity” until the white all goes away
Snapshot a Frame Drag to the exact spot of the picture/frame you want of the video Click File, Export, Frame Save it and it will end up in your Project window so you can add it to the timeline
Closing Credits (Title Roll) Change Title Type to Roll Create a text box that is bigger than the visible screen and type the stuff in…
Then… Click the Roll Options button Check “Start Off Screen” and “End Off Screen” DO NOT let the top part hang off the top edge (like this one—bad!)
Crawling Title (like “emergency” scroller) Same as the previous one… just pick Crawl instead of Roll When doing the text box, make it start at left and go past the right margin as far as you need Don’t forget to set options to start/end off screen!
Fade Out Click the video clip Drag the playhead to the place you want the fade to start… Click Effect Controls
Fade Out If you can’t see the Opacity number (100), click the down arrow at left Click Add/Remove Keyframe button to put a diamond at the spot the fade needs to start
Fade Out Click and drag the playhead to the end of the video clip (where it should be faded out to black all the way) Click Add/Remove Keyframe button to put a diamond at the end spot Click that ending keyframe Drag the opacity down to zero!
Bringing in Images… If you have an image in Photoshop (for example) that you have cut out and made transparent AND saved as a PSD format, you can bring it in and it will be awesome! Notice this pic is way too big…covers the whole video
Resize To resize his big ol’ head… In Effect Controls, choose SCALE and lower the number (this is set to 20)
Motion Keyframing the Bouncing Head… Activate the Motion section and Position for Effect Controls…click the clock or the diamond to put in a keyframe
Next… Now, scrub the timeline to the point where you know you want the head to move to… (it’s following the person, or leading, rather…) Add a keyframe Click and drag the head to a new location (it will automatically alter the position setting) If you scrub now, you’ll see the head move from point A to point B!! Yeah!! You can keep going and add more (lots more) keyframes to make it go all over the place, jump around, etc.
Fade Out Audio… Click on an audio line (zoom in) Click the little “no sign” button to “Show Clip Volume” and you’ll see a little yellow audio line appear Move the scrubber to where you want the audio to start fading out and click the keyframe button
Almost done fading… When you clicked to add a keyframe, a dot appeared…. Scrub to the end and insert another keyframe (to the SILENCE! Point) At the ending keyframe, drag the dot all the way down so it is 0 dB (silence) and it should gradually fade from dot 1 to dot 2!
Bonus Strange Thing… Say you wanted some little video going on during the “big” video that is in a shape of some sort…. Well, first, create a title of that shape (big):
Drag the title on a video line and then turn the eyeball off (you don’t really want that big white circle, you just need its shape) Put the video you want IN the shape on a line higher than the “big” video… and resize/reposition that video using the motion/scale options in Effects Controls
Now, drag a Track Matte Key (Video Effects) onto the baby clip Then, expand the Track Matte Key control and set Matte to the video line of the circle (the one with the lack of eyeball going on)
Tada!
