The online environment as growth

Tegrity in the online environment A commuter campus from 9:00-2:00 and the crunch of rooms and parking lots English and the viability of second-year classes The evolution of the technology Text on screen Word documents PDFs HTML pages Audio with text Narrated PPTs Impatica Camtasia Tegrity Audio and video with text and graphics Camtasia Relay CCC Confer What could be worse for our students? Lecture capture for online English Move from text-on-screen to a presentation that offers audio as well as visual non-text

What were we looking for? Mimicking the F2F experience: a tool to capture exactly what is on the screen, quality audio, with an instructor video option Ease of use for the user (instructor and student): Setting up Recording Uploading Editing* Play back options Captionable Portable Independent of an online connection

Using Tegrity in the F2F classroom Lecture capture for F2F Math and Science: Prime numbers Large Group Instruction: (History, Psychology, Art) Provides ways for students to review information and review concepts and processes Lecture capture for hybrid classes and enabled for student recording Speech Business, Marketing Lecture capture for F2F Math History Provide way for students to review information and process Grade Analysis for F2F classes using Tegrity Lecture capture for hybrid Speech

Using Tegrity in the F2F classroom Anecdotal response from math students Reviewing a concept and a process Notes and attention: removing the “head bob” response from lecture and demonstration Mr. Gilmore, Thank you so much for doing the different math examples on tegrity.  I would not be able to do Math 103 online without it.  The examples in web assign are not enough for me to learn how to do it and leave me frustrated.   I need to hear it explained and be shown how to work through the different math problems.  I guess I'm more of an audio (sic) learner when it comes to Math. Your work book with the examples and the tegrity showing how to do the different problems are the two thing getting me through this class. I review the tegrities before the test and they have been very helpful. Thanks again, Scot B.
