Proposed Project Title: My e-eHealth (Early Childhood electronic health) story
Why e-eHealth Story? Identifies some challenges based on literature review: The new generation is so called “touch screen generation” 2. Obesity challenge
Research Question How children (4-6 years of age) could develop self-consciousness of their wellbeing focusing on health status by using screen media (e.g. mobile, iPad, Smart phone, tablet, etc.)?
Methodology Develop an app on the screen media for children Pilot the app at a childcare centre / a school with a kindergarten class and analyse how effective the app is for children’s learning about their health and wellbeing Argument: Obesity rates in children are continuing to rise in Australia. The obesity issue is a big challenge in Australia. Thus, there is a need for research to make children more aware of their health status. Why screen media? The new generation is so called “touch screen generation” (Cantor & Cornish, 2016) and children are intensively engaged on the screen media for multiple purposes, such as, playing games, watching YouTube, and learning literacy and numeracy by using apps. However, there is a huge debate on how much time children should use on screen media and what purpose for. Educators and parents are concerned for children’s quality time spending on the screen media (Cantor and Cornish, 2016). Thus, we should focus on children’s quality learning through screen media what meet adult’s demand in one way and children’s enjoyment by using the media what fulfil child’s agency in other way.
So what? Children will make their own e-eHealth story by using the app and develop self consciousness on their own health. Children will be able to share their e-eHealth story with anyone regardless of time, space and place in the world. Might reduce some allergic issue, obesity problems, The child
