Business Case Issue Upgrade required Cost of software upgrade ~$70,000.00 Use low WO Issues – ~ 1000 per month Users – 3 to 7 Solution Requirements Cost low Keep WO Inv Issue and Cycle Counts Upgrade of the Data collection software and hardware was required for Windows 10 and with our JDE Upgrade Cost for the software alone was around 70,000 and previously the handheld had been between 3 and 4 thousand dollars. We are not a high volume users of the data collection software. Around 1000 work order issue per month and 3 to 7 users. Our use did not justify the cost. To replace the data collection software the new solution had to be cost effective and the users used the WO Issue and cycle count scripts the most these programs needed to be available.
Business Case Potential Solutions Mobile Computer Intermec 700 Series Laptop on a cart with keyboard wedge Desktop Tablet using Mobile Application with Bluetooth scanner We came up with 4 potential solutions. Was to keep our current handheld mobile computer which was the Intermec 700 series. The problem with this solution was the protocol for the handheld did not match the network. At that point the handheld were already beyond support from the manufacturer so we moved on Get a laptop with a scanner attached and put it on a cart. This would use the traditional JDE entry. Our stockroom employees all have access to JDE from their desktop so they could use their desktop entry. Using a tablet, in our environment that meant an iPad, and loading the JDE container app. This ended up to be what we moved forward with.
