Steps to Solving Multi-step Equations Change all subtraction into addition of an opposite Combine Like Terms if needed Isolate all Variable terms on one side of the equation by adding the opposite of a variable term to both sides of the equation Isolate all Constant terms on the other side of the equation by adding the opposite of a constant term to both sides of the equation Remove any coefficients by dividing both sides of the equation by the coefficient Simplify
