Time Management Mistakes 1. Not setting Time Limits 2. Ignoring important tasks that aren’t so urgent 3. Blaming yourself: when over packing your schedule 4. Thinking that “busy” means efficient 5. Too much time wasted in meetings What doesn’t work for you?

Time Management Hacks 1. Study between classes. 2. Study between class and dinner. 3. Evaluate how you spend your day. 4. Set up a work routine & stick to it. 5. Days always fill up faster than you’d expect. 6. When you study, FOCUS! 7. Break down massive tasks into manageable items. 8. Create deadlines! 9. Be aware of your expectations. Perfection can be stifling. 10. Be wary of the comparison game.

To Do List Tips: Always know the one thing that you really need to get done during the day. Prioritize & follow that priority. Take notes! Don’t assume you’ll remember everything that comes into your head during the day. (Use a planner, post-it notes, notebook, whiteboard, phone app, etc). Take care of small things in a batch. To help with motivation, do the ugliest thing first and allow quick reward if needed.

Time Management Takeaways: TM is often more about self-management. Effective time management will require you to do things you do not want to do when you do not want to do it but it is worth it in the bigger picture. TM doesn’t “just happen” for anyone. It is a skill that must be worked on and it is a life-long challenge. As new responsibilities get added to your plate you will need to constantly re-evaluate what you are doing. TM is a learning process. It is normal to have some missteps, but it is important to learn from any mistakes so you can prevent that issue in the future.
