By: Mrs. Martin’s 4th Hour Class Our Gutter System By: Mrs. Martin’s 4th Hour Class

Why? We decided on a gutter system because at the end of the 6th entrance there was an erosion problem. When it rained sheets of water ran down the roof and eroded the soil. Because of the erosion no plants could grow. We also wanted to help water a pollinator garden.

During the rain Planting and positioning

How we accomplished the project. We first started with leveling off where the rain barrel would sit. Then we positioned and made the barrel sturdy in its spot. Then, we placed drain stone around the area where erosion happened the most. As well as getting the gutters installed to lead to the barrel. Next, we put in a soaker hose near the bottom of the barrel to water the garden. After that, we added a normal hose near the top leading into a nearby storm drain, to prevent the barrel from overflowing. Finally we waited for the rain to see our success in the whole progress.
