Patient Interface

F&P Patient Interface The F&P patient interface consists of: Nasal tubing Nasal Prongs Infant bonnet Headgear Chinstrap

Mid-line System Easy to set up Supports all caring positions Provides patient comfort The Fisher & Paykel mid-line patient interface is designed to deliver bubble CPAP effectively in a user-friendly setup benefiting both the neonate and the caregiver. The mid-line cannula makes positioning of the baby easier, helping in the developmental process.

Nasal tubing Easy to setup Low resistance to flow Glider keeps prongs in place with movement No undue pressure on baby’s face Available in 3 lengths 50mm - 1kg or less 70mm - 2kg or less 100mm - 2kg or more Easy to setup - with a three point fixation : across the forehead with the cut-out foam secured to the velcro and with the strings at the sides of the bonnet hooked to the nasal tubing glider Low resistance to flow - has wide lumen and allow balanced feed of air Glider - this special feature allows movement of the head without dislodging the prongs. It also ensures proper fit preventing undue pressure-causing necrosis Collapsible extension tubing - allows ease of circuit positioning and provides various length options to manage condensate build up in the inspiratory circuit

Nasal Prongs Wide range of sizes Low resistance to flow Anatomically curved Soft and flexible Septum cut away Taking into consideration that the size of the nares vary and is not totally dependent on age, sex, weight, etc., the nasal prongs were designed to address such variety and taking into account the distance between the nares or the width of the septum. Currently, there are 9 sizes available, the first 5 with different prong diameter and the next 4 with different septum gap. It is made of small, soft, silicon based parts and has the largest bore possible to reduce resistance to flow. It is curved to fit anatomically and comfortably and has a cut-away portion between the prongs to avoid contact with septum

Prong Sizing Guide A prong sizing guide is included in each pack of the nasal tubing. Circles at the back of the caterpillar denote the diameter of the nares and the legs, the septum gap. Diagonal lines show alternative prong/gap combinations.

Bonnet Ease of access for clinical procedures Sizes by head circumference Holds the nasal tubing firmly in place This specially designed bonnet holds the cannula in place. Using the correct size, movement of the cannula is minimized, hence undue pressure on the nasal septum is avoided. The bonnet is available in 6 sizes with an option to have an open or a close top. With this, procedures like ultrasound can be done without having to take it off. The Infant Bonnet is available in 6 sizes designated by head circumference in centimeters. The sizes are sewn on the bonnet for easy identification.

Headgear Suit bigger babies of up to 45cm head circumference Holds nasal tubing firmly in place Adapts to the contour of the head for a comfortable fit Soft & pliable material An alternative to the infant bonnet is the headgear, designed to fit comfortably to babies of up to 45cm head circumference. Soft, pliable material follows the contour of the head and holds the nasal tubing in place with similar 3-point fixation. Available in 3 sizes ranging from 29 – 45cm head circumference.

Chinstrap Reduces mouth leaks Soft and pliable Available in 4 sizes With split top design for better fixation To optimize the effect of bubble CPAP, chinstraps are recommended to be used to help prevent excessive leaks from an open mouth. The chinstraps are made of soft, pliable, latex material that fits comfortably around the baby’s face. It is available in 4 sizes based on face circumference from 22 – 44cm. The chinstrap is designed with split top ends for a stable fixation.
