Today’s Learning Objectives: I can describe what life in the Middle Ages was like for different groups of people. Today’s Agenda: The Church… HW: None

Importance of the Church The building itself was typically at the center of the town/city…usually the largest and most elaborate building. This becomes the source of pride for the town/city… How else might this impact the people that live in the area?

Importance of the Church The building was a meeting place… Religious (certainly…) Socially—gatherings, entertainment, etc. Economically—usually the town square/market

Importance of the Church The building was a place of information… Those that were not officially involved in the Church, were reliant upon the Clergy to inform them about morality, the practice of religion, and how all things work in the world… What kind of issues could possibly come from this need of the people?
