TALPA/RCAM Year 1 Review MSP International Airport FPAW Fall 2017 Meeting Joshua Paurus Duty Manager – Airside Operations Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport

2016-2017 Preseason ACM SICP change by October 1, 2016 Tenant and ATCT briefings on RCAM Our staffing changes

2016-2017 Post Season Total Snowfall = 32” 30 Year Average Snowfall = 54.4” Number of snow storms = 7 Number of ice storms = 9

RCAM and the MSP Airlines Airlines not understanding that a FICON is only valid at the date and time of issuance Airlines calling ATCT for clarification of FICON information and for updated FICONs Pilots reporting aircraft braking using RCC “Braking action a 4” Airlines wanting FICON indicating when runways are clear and dry (no contaminant)

RCAM and MSP ATCT ATC feels they’re getting less information with new system ATC reporting RCCs as aircraft braking action “Braking action 5/5/5” ATC converting aircraft braking action PIREPs to RCCs…

March 12, 2017 .5 mile visibility, snowing 1722L 12R opened Mu = 28/24/24 RCC = 5/5/5 1739L PIREP BA Med-Poor 1755L FX Diverted to MKE
