Why The Fault In Our Stars is one of the best romance movies Jenelle Bedgood 7th Hour Film Study
Introduction How could some one be so positive knowing that they have a limited lifetime?
Background Information Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley), a 16-year-old cancer patient, meets and falls in love with Gus Waters (Ansel Elgort), a similarly afflicted teen from her cancer support group. Hazel feels that Gus really understands her. They both share the same acerbic wit and a love of books, especially Grace's touchstone, "An Imperial Affliction" by Peter Van Houten. When Gus scores an invitation to meet the reclusive author, he and Hazel embark on the adventure of their brief lives. Release date: June 6, 2014 (USA) Director: Josh Boone Box office: 307.2 million USD Awards: MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss, and MORE
Opinion Statement I think The Fault in Our Stars displays a great romance between two teenagers who deals with life or death in their lives and despite having cancer they found a way to love each other.
Reason #1: A thrill in living Hazel Lancaster (the main character) could die at any moment but she still persevere through life. Example: In the middle of the night she couldn’t breathe and was rushed to the hospital
Reason #2: Love Love is demonstrated many times throughout the movie through family, friends, and relationships. Hazel and Augustus have that love that many people hope to have one day. Example: Hazel Eulogy for Augustus shows how much they loved one another https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgyfZQB94po
Reason #3: Unexpected Ending You would think that Hazel would be the one to not make it in life, however it turns out to be someone else who died. Happily ever after isn’t promised in the movie and that’s a life example that things never go as expected. Example: Augustus cancer relapsed
Counter Argument Others may not like romance or like to watch movies that involve cancer because it might be to hurtful to watch so The Fault in Our Stars may not be the best movie in their eyes.
Conclusion In conclusion, The Fault in Our Stars is a classic and I would never get tired of watching it. It has a strong leading female who finds love only to get it ripped away from her.
