Trouble Shooting The following section is to assist you in the trouble shooting process of your deicer. Although we do not expect to have problems with the equipment, at times, components and system will malfunction that require attention. This section is designed to provide tips on the for the most commonly experienced problems. Additional trouble shooting information can be found in the appropriate manufacturers appendix for applicable components. When a problem surfaces, we strongly urge you to contact Premier so that we may track commonly experienced problems. Both the chassis components and auxiliary engine components are computer controlled and require significant resources for trouble shooting. The trouble shooting section of this presentation will not be addressing in-depth schedules for trouble shooting of these components. You will need to consult your manufacturers appendix for a detailed trouble shooting guide for the chassis and auxiliary engine.

Troubleshooting Troubleshooting guides for the following systems: Fluid Heaters Deicing Fluid Pump Deicing Fluid System Anti-Icing Fluid System Communications System Fire Suppression System Generator Aerial Lift The following information is presented for the purposes of trouble shooting individual components. When possible, exclusivity to the component described is attempted, however, it may be necessary to adjust or evaluate additional components for completion of the evaluation. As always, please don't hesitate to contact Premier Engineering for additional information. The Trouble Shooting Guide assumes you understand how to operate the Premier Model MT35 Deicer. If you are uncertain how to operate the deicer, see Review “Operating Instructions” presentation .

Troubleshooting Deicer Systems Fluid Heaters A. Fluid Heaters TROUBLE: Any individual heater does not operate; however, there is fuel in the tank, there is fluid in the Deicing tank, and there is pressure in the Deicing system. 1. IF: Heater Rocker Switch is "On" but burner does not operate. THEN: A. Try another switch to ensure the Generator is providing power 1. If no power exists, contact manufacturer. B. Check to see if the heater rocker switch is illuminated. 1. If switch is not illuminated, reset breakers in load center. C. Check to see if blower motor is spinning. 1. If blower motor is not spinning, reset thermal protection on blower. 2. If after resetting thermal, blower does not come on or pops the thermal again, check to see if fuel pump or motor is bound. 3. If fuel pump spins freely, replace blower motor. D. Check ignition. 1. Open transformer, and with the power on, cross posts with screwdriver. 2. Remove Gun assembly and re-gap electrodes to 1/8" – 3/16" with power off. 3. Close transformer slowly and look for stray spark, with power on. E. Check fuel supply. 1. With blower motor on, open fuel pump bleed valve. 2. If no fuel exists, check 12 Volt auxiliary fuel pump operation. 3. Check fuel lines for ice or blockage. 4. Replace fuel filter cartridge. Checking the Ignition

Troubleshooting Deicer Systems Fluid Heaters E. Check fuel supply. 1. With blower motor on, open fuel pump bleed valve. 2. If no fuel exists, check 12 Volt auxiliary fuel pump operation. 3. Check fuel lines for ice or blockage. 4. Replace fuel filter cartridge. F. Check system setting. 1. Using a jumper wire, cross the "T" terminals on the Primary Control. 2. If burner ignites, check flow switch and thermostat. 3. If burner does not Ignite. a. Check operation of fuel solenoid. b. Check operation of Primary Control. c. Replace Cad Cell. 4. If burner still does not fire using jumper wire, contact Premier Engineering. If all of the above have been performed and check out properly, but burner will not function on either Cold Fluid Purge or with the Dispensing Gun “Open”. Contact Premier for additional instructions. Check System Setting

Troubleshooting Deicer Systems Deicing Fluid Pump B. Deicing Fluid Pump TROUBLE: The deicing fluid tank is full of fluid but the fluid pump will not operate. 1. IF: Fluid pump is on but system will not generate pressure. THEN: A. Ensure there is power to the fluid pump. 1. Check rocker switch for illumination. 2. If switch is not illuminated, reset relay breaker in load center. 3. Try another switch to see if there is AC power. 4. If no AC power exists, contact manufacturer. B. Ensure system selector switch in the basket is in “Deice” position. C. Ensure there is fluid getting to the fluid pump. 1. Open and close the ball valve located in the bottom load compartment. 2. Remove the 3/8" fluid line from the fluid pump manifold with pump "Off". D. Check, clean and replace fluid pump line strainer element. E. Ensure the Roll Over Valve is not in the open position. F. Ensure selector switch in the basket is in “Deice” position. G. Ensure magnetic contactor in Load Center is being activated. 1. Manually depress contactor and watch pump. 2. Check Low Fluid Shutdown operation. H. Check Anti-Icing system magnetic contactor to see if it is activated. Ensure there is fluid getting to the fluid pump. Open and close the ball valve located in the bottom load compartment. Check, clean and replace fluid pump line strainer element. Remove the 3/8" fluid line from the fluid pump manifold with pump "Off".

Troubleshooting Deicer Systems Deicing Fluid System Re-gap the electrodes on the heater gun assembly. Clean cad cell lens. 4. IF: The heater comes on normally, but during cold fluid purge, the Carlin Primary Control pops “Reset”. THEN: A. Reset Primary Control and turn on only the heater that popped “Reset”. B. Run system through cold fluid purge again and see if burner is igniting. If burner is igniting but popping Primary Control, 1. Re-gap the electrodes on the heater gun assembly. 2. Clean cad cell lens. a. Disconnect cad cell lead wires F-F terminals, and then start heater. Shortly after burner starts, place a jumper wire across F-F terminals. Connect an Ohm meter across the cad cell lead wires; resistance should be less than 1600 Ohms b. Stop heater and disconnect temporary jumper. c. With heater off, check dark cell resistance across the cad cell lead wires. Resistance should be greater than 20,000 Ohms. d. Check cad cell operation by unplugging and measuring the resistance across its pins; covered resistance should be over 50K Ohms. When exposed to room light, resistance should be under 10K Ohms. Replace if necessary. e. If cad cell functions properly, re-install cell and close transformer on burner housing to check for stray light. Measure cad cell resistance; resistance level should be over 50K Ohms. f. If cad cell functions properly, then replace controller, if not Throw cad cell away and install a new one.

COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING E. COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING: A. You have a problem communicating with the person in the basket from the cab of the truck, and/or have excessive noise: 1. Make sure you have two headsets working properly. 2. Plug both headsets in the Master Station in the cab of the truck. 3. Set volume control, on Master Station at 1/3 open. B. The noise is still there: 1. Disconnect the canon plug from the Remote Station on the lift. 2. The noise is gone and communication is good. 3. Replace the Remote Station. C. The problem has not gone away: 1. Disconnect the communication wire canon plug at the Master Station. 3. You need to replace the Communication wire (call Premier) D. The noise is still there: 1. Replace the Master Station. 2. If the problem persists, call the manufacturer.

Fire Suppression System F. Fire Suppression System The fire suppression system (if provided) has been factory installed by an Ansul Manufacturers Representative. It is strongly recommended that any and all service work that is done to the fire suppression system is done by a certified Ansul Representative. Information regarding the Ansul Fire Suppression System can be found in the Premier Service Manual

NO RESPONSE TO EITHER UPPER OR LOWER CONTROLS 1. Truck engine not running 2. PTO not engaged 3. Low hydraulic fluid supply 4. Relief valve set too low 5. Pinched pressure or return line 6. Defective hydraulic pump 7. Lift controls not selected NO RESPONSE TO LOWER CONTROLS, UPPER CONTROLS O.K. 1. Platform override valve in wrong position 2. Plugged or defective control valve NO RESPONSE TO UPPER CONTROLS, LOWER CONTROLS O.K. 2. Safety trigger not actuated or adjusted properly 3. Plugged or defective control valve 4. Pinched or kinked pressure or return hose in boom 5. Emergency stop valve is activated
