Breaking down the process - Disclosure It is the policy of Belfast Metropolitan College that all those who apply to study with the College will be required to disclose any unspent criminal convictions by way of the Belfast Metropolitan College Disclosure Form For certain professional courses all criminal convictions including spent convictions must be declared regardless of when the offence was committed. Teaching, Health, Social Work, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Science or courses involving work with children or vulnerable adults. Belfast Metropolitan College Enhanced Disclosure Form http://www.belfastmet.ac.uk/life-at-the-met/students-support/ Under certain circumstances once a period of time has lapsed from the date of conviction and there have been no further convictions the conviction becomes spent. This means that the ex-offender if asked if they have a criminal record can legally answer ‘no’. The Order only covers custodial sentences of up to two and a half years. Offences dealt with by sentences of 30 months imprisonment or more are never spent; in practice this means that the more serious offences must always be declared. 11/13/2018 Belfast Metropolitan College
