Drill Press
#1 Make sure the chuck is tight and all adjustments are made before starting the machine Maintain a 4” safety zone around the boring tool. Make sure all adjustments have been made before starting.
Make sure the chuck key is removed from the chuck after tightening a bit.
Never force the bit through the stock faster than it can cut easily.
If the bit begins to smoke release the pressure on the feed lever.
Do not attempt to adjust the table by yourself.
Always keep the long end of a piece of wood to the left side of the operator.
Never attempt to stop the chuck with your hands
Small pieces of stock being drilled need to be clamped to the table with the drill press vice grips.
Never talk to or bother anyone who is using the machine.
Always concentrate on what you are doing.
Do not remove any material from the drill press until it has come to a complete stop.
#4 Clamp cylindrical stock in a v-block.
Select the proper bit for the stock to be drilled. Use straight shanked twist bits.
Never wear gloves when drilling on the drill press. Always concentrate on what you are doing. Never stop the chuck with your hands.
