Why Some Do Not Stand Some are afraid to stand up for the truth. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1: 7). This study provides many answers to the asked question, “Why some do not stand.” Standing is imperative and absolutely necessary (I Cor. 16: 13, Phili. 1: 7, 17, Jude 3, etc.). Why, then, do so many fail to stand?

Why Some Do Not Stand Others labor under a false view of biblical unity. “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body….” (Eph. 4: 3-6).

Why Some Do Not Stand They do not have sufficient love of the truth. “…because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” (2 Thes. 2: 10, 11).

Why Some Do Not Stand They cannot stand the thought of possible family rejection. “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me…” (Matt. 10: 37).

Why Some Do Not Stand They view standing for the truth as unloving. “But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel” (Phili. 1: 17).

Why Some Do Not Stand They do not want the reputation of a trouble-maker. “For we have found this man a pestilent fellow…” (Acts 24: 5).

Why Some Do Not Stand They are unwilling to risk any possible legal repercussions. “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5: 29).

Why Some Do Not Stand “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel…For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ” (Rom. 1: 15, 16). “…it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3) We need to develop the character of character that renders us strong and convicted, able to stand all the onslaught of the devil and false teachers.
