Specifics: Synthetic drug Depressant Psychoactive drug -- affects the central nervous system altering mood and behavior Illegal in the US Stimulant and psychedelic and hallucinogenic Similar effects to mescaline and methamphetamine (hallucinations and increased mood)

Ways the substance is Taken Ecstasy is usually taken orally in pill, tablet or capsule form The pills are of different colors and are sometimes marked with cartoon-like images. Snorted: crushed into a fine powder and then snorted through the nose Suppository: can be taken by placing it into the rectume

Short-Term Effects Physical: Faintness, chills or sweating, muscle tension, blurred vision, nausea, involuntary teeth clenching Psychological: impaired judgment, depression, sleep problems, severe anxiety false sense of affection, confusion, paranoia.
