LNLA Annual Meeting 2017 2018 Budget Adoption Overall guiding principle: Don’t spend money we do not have. Expenses and Revenues: Assume the pattern of revenues and expenses remains unchanged for the rest of 2017 and 2018. Recommendations: Spending - Plan spending on programs only with money raised in the past, not based on hoped for future revenue. Dues – increase to $40 per year from current (original) level of $35 per year. Reserves – maintain a modest reserve in the general fund and milfoil fund for unexpected needs. Proposed 2018 Revenue $ 6125 Expenses $ 3726
LNLA Annual Meeting 2017 2018 Budget Adoption
LNLA Annual Meeting 2017 Bylaw Change The Board of Directors recommend Member approval of one change to the LNLA Bylaws that would remove the specific level of dues: Current wording is: Article III, Section 2: DUES. “Dues shall be $35 paid on a yearly basis and reviewed at each Annual Meeting”. Strike the term “$35” from Article III, Section 2: DUES, such that it reads: “Dues shall be paid on a yearly basis and reviewed at each Annual Meeting”.
LNLA Annual Meeting 2017 Milfoil Control Efforts Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) Effort started in 2015 Education, mapping, hand removal, divers, fund raising Efforts in 2016 and 2017 to date Obtained DNR approval and hired a contractor to treat the worst dense areas of EWM. Treated about 3 acres each year. Assessing success of treatment, looks promising. Will review and make decision this fall on future treatments. Possible Future Efforts – Joint work with Upper Nemahbin on adjoining sections of lakes. AIS monitoring by volunteers, looking for new threats. Start a “Clean Boats – Clean Waters” program here to reduce the spread of EWM and other aquatic invasive species.
LNLA Annual Meeting 2017 Water Quality Volunteers have been taking regular measurements of water clarity and lake level. Would like to start water sampling for several key parameters to better assess and track the health of the lake. To include phosphorous, chlorophyll, dissolved oxygen, and suspended solids. Will seek DNR grant to cover costs of training and supplies, part of Citizen Lake Monitoring Network.
