PASTA The best thing that happened to food By Oluwaseyi A. Persuasive Presentation 11/7/17 Speech I

Intro Upon the abundant amount of different foods there are, a dish with pasta will always reign supreme. Either it be for comfort or impression, there's always a pasta or noodle dish for it. I believe pasta should be a staple for every household and every person.

Background Info “While we do think of pasta as a culturally Italian food, it is likely the descendent of ancient Asian noodles. A common belief about pasta is that it was brought to Italy from China by Marco Polo during the 13th century.” “A 1-cup serving of cooked spaghetti pasta contains 200 calories, 7 grams of protein and 40 grams of carbohydrates, including 2 grams of fiber. The same size serving of cooked whole-wheat spaghetti contains 170 calories, 7 grams of protein and 35 grams of carbohydrates, including 6 grams of fiber. Whole-grain pasta contains the same amount of protein and more fiber but with fewer calories and carbohydrates, making it the healthier option.” “There are approximately 350 different types of pasta around the world.”

Reason 1 Its for any Occasion

Whether its for a fancy dinner, or a late night alone, pasta is always the perfect dish. Spaghetti is known to be cooked when you want to impression someone, like a date or a boss. While Alfredo is a fine Entrée to eat at a restaurant. Mac and Cheese is made for comfort and support and chicken noodle soup can help sooth the ill.

Reason 2 Its Cheap

To buy a 12-pack of ramen noodles on cost 2$ To buy a 12-pack of ramen noodles on cost 2$! While a pound of thin pasta on average cost 4$! This food is affordable, the customers range from a family of 7 to a college student on a budget.

Reason 3 Its Customizable

How your food taste is up to your imagination when it comes to pasta How your food taste is up to your imagination when it comes to pasta. Sauces range from tomato, cheese, alfredo to teriyaki vegetable stocks. Pasta types go from penne, macaroni, and linguine, to rotini, fettuccine, and ravioli You could literally put ANYTHING on top of it.

Counter Argument Surprisingly, there are people who don’t like pasta. I believe they just haven't found the right type. Pasta ranges from all areas of the world, enough kinds to satisfy every different taste. Another reason is allergies. Pasta ingredients are changeable, and have a grand amount of substitutes. You are bound to find a recipe that tends to your needs.

Conclusion Pasta and noodles are enjoyed worldwide. They can be eaten at any event, they are extremely cheap, and is customizable to fit any mouth. Hopefully this food makes it to your dinner plate!
