SBG SBG SBG SBG Unpack Iowa Core Essential Learning Targets Content and Language Objectives Goal: 100% of teachers using Collect data on use & share with teachers Parent-Friendly Descriptors Fine tune based on Power School & use SBG SBG SBG District directed PD unpacking: what Iowa Core standards meant and what was essential for classes Focused on CO/LO and broke into student friendly, what they need to know Then broke it down to what parents needed to know what was necessary for passing the class Future plans Every one ties back to SBG SBG

SBG SBG What are types of rubrics? Formative/ Summative Assessment Rubrics What are types of rubrics? What are some attributes of rubrics? What are resources to create/find rubrics? How do you use rubrics? Standardized Assessments Iowa Assessments Smarter Balanced (Reading & Math) ACT Aspire (Science) SBG SBG Two types (formative and summative) already created in-house Standardized

The next slide shows our focus for the next 3 years.

Iowa Core & Essential Learning Targets Essential Questions Content & Language Objectives Formative Assessment Design Unit & Lesson Design Teach Formative Assessment Rubric, etc. Analyze evidence Reteach Extend Summative Assessment Use the Iowa Core to decide what are the specific goals for the unit and each lesson; convert them into CO/LO Then plan formative assessments to collect the specific evidence that will assist with planning learning (examples: ticket out the door, reciprocal teaching) Design the unit; then Nike, (Just do it!); iterative process Two are done. Iowa Core given to us and essential learnings identified. Formative assessments studied. We’ll add rubrics as formative assessments and summative assessments. Need to know level of mastery to instruction. Not necessarily 4 formative assessments. Unit design we will move towards in the future. Only three pieces will be anew focus beginning in 2017-18

Discussion: Based on the picture you selected, reflect on the question about ensuring learning. What are some ways you are using clear content and language objectives to help your students be successful? What are some ways you are creating a safe and supportive learning environment? Brain break: Reflect on what you are doing in your classrooms. Then, stand, turn & talk: What are some ways you support struggling learners? What are some ways you are using clear learning targets to help your students be successful? What are some ways you support struggling learners? What are some ways you are supporting students who already got it?
