Presentation transcript:

“Romeo and Juliet are rash and impulsive in their hurry to get married “Romeo and Juliet are rash and impulsive in their hurry to get married.” How far would you agree or disagree with this. Didn’t think it through properly; love at first sight in the party scene. Unrequited love for Rosaline – Romeo was depressed about his feelings for Rosaline, but he forgets her completely – shows how desperate he is for affection – Demonstrates his impulsive nature Marriage was rushed – Juliet’s age (too young perhaps), 1 day between them meeting and marrying, marry in secret without her parents knowing. Friar Laurence tries to use the wedding as a peace-keeping mission – they believe the man of religion showing some rational thought – they seek some advice. Romeo’s risking his life to see Juliet – The Balcony scene Killing Tybalt – rash and impulsive – even after they are married

“Romeo is a hero who worships Juliet” How far would you agree with this? During the party scene – falls in love – decides to pursue her, even though she is a Capulet and this puts him in danger “With love’s lights wings I oer’perched the walls” – Balcony Scene – Romeo is seen as hero because he risks his life “Arise fair sun, and kill the envious moon.” Romeo kills himself himself to be with Juliet again “where you are I will be” Revisits from Mantua after being banished – heroic as this puts his life in danger. To the reader he may be seen as a hero after killing Tybalt, or alternatively he could be seen as a murderer (this was Juliet’s cousin and they were already married)
