Juliet’s Birthday Juliet’s birthday is on 31 July, also known as Lammas Eve. The next day, 1 August, is called Lammas-tide, during which “the earliest corn to ripen was made into loaves, which was a festival celebrating the beginning of harvest.” These associations with youth, plenty and ripening grain were also appropriate for Juliet who’s at ‘a pretty age.’ The play takes place at the beginning of July, a few weeks before Juliet’s fourteenth birthday.
