Over Fifty years ago, President Lyndon B Over Fifty years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson created Head Start — a program to help meet the emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of preschool-aged children from low-income families. In his State of the Union address in 1964, President Johnson declared a "War on Poverty”.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM Organization Chart Grantee and interact directly with the Federal Government in our reporting Commissioners and parents are our local governing bodies who approve all decisions (programmatically and having to do with staff) Monthly Meetings to review our budget and plan programatic

Provide low-income children with the early learning experiences they need in order to succeed in school and help lift their families out of poverty. Federally funded program administered through local public and private agencies All programs provide education, emotional development, health, nutrition, parent education and social services

Provides parental education, the program helps transform homes into environments that encourage early childhood development and later school achievement Increased parent/child interaction reduces behavior problems and increases family stability

Eligibility Below 100 % of Federal Poverty Guidelines Homelessness Children needing a dental/ medical home Priority for 4 years olds Children receiving IEP Services
