Susan Germer, Cofounder sue@playposit.com Hello, my name is Sue. I’m cofounder and co-creator of PlayPosit. Susan Germer, Cofounder sue@playposit.com

Unleash the potential of video for learning Our mission is to unleash the potential of video for learning. I want to begin by talking to you about the startling juxtaposition of a typical school day.

High Engagement Everyday students wake up to engaging online videos, on their computers, cell phones, before breakfast, on the bus. It’s not surprising that YouTube is the second largest search engines in the world. The experience is personalized and highly addictive. The content is up-to-date and community curated. High engagement.

Low Engagement And then these same students arrive at school to learn and experience a flat, one-size-fits-all classroom. The instructional material used is dull in comparison to the videos they watch online. and involves out-of-date content, often recycled from year to year. Low engagement. And to top it off, we as teachers (I was a middle school science teacher) send students home with paper practice assignments knowing full well that that experience pales in comparison to YouTube.

We were classroom teachers At PlayPosit, we’re committed to solving the hardest problems faced by educators like ourselves and we’re starting with scalable delivery and maximizing engagement, which we posit go hand-in-hand. Students like Thelma, who couldn’t make it to her lectures because she had two children and a full time job. When she was in class, she felt disengaged and left behind. We built PlayPosit to make sure she never missed content. And when she gained access to that content, it was personalized and highly engaging for her.

Enrich any online video with questions Using PlayPosit, instructors transform pretty much any online video (we’ve integrated with a half dozen sources already) into an interactive, student-teacher feedback rich learning opportunity for their students. How do they do that? They add personalized, context specific questions and activities that are tied to moments in time in that video. Those interactions can include audio files, images, sentence starters and modifications that empower students to meta-critically engage with the content rather than passively view it. to engage diverse learner backgrounds

PD Layer: Evolve and Model When I say “instructors,” I mean, instructors in the classroom and the instructors for those teachers. PlayPosit has two layers—one from the admin to the teacher and the other from the teacher to the students—so that any admin can take a professional development lesson on any topic, add interactions like discussion questions, to moments in the video for 1:1 delivery to staff.

We have both and we’ve addressed the pain points associated with both When I say “instructors,” I mean, instructors in the classroom and the instructors for those teachers. inform individual learning paths Real-time analytics And at the same time, we provide real-time analytics to give teachers the confidence and security in delivering these interactive lessons on any device, live in the classroom via our synchronous delivery or as self-paced instructional homework, all the while providing insights into struggling, on-track, and advanced learners that inform next steps. inform individual learning paths

Scalable, 1:1 Feedback Loop We’ve built out deeper analytics, live chat options for virtual office hours, student report exports to save instructors even more time in using our platform. And we integrate deeply with nearly every single LMS—Sakai, BB, Canvas, the list goes on—to again ensure scalability and ease of use for all instructors.

3+ Years of Traction 150,000 instructors 100+ paying schools and institutions In two years we’ve registered 150,000 teachers who have brought millions of learners to the platform. As well as excelling in K-12, we have found strong footing in higher education having landed some of the most prestigious universities - most recently, Duke University and a pilot with NC State.

400K+ pre-made, interactive videos As a testament to our traction, we have a database of more than 400, 000 searchable, modifiable and downloadable interactive video lessons to ensure no teacher or administrator ever feels like they are an island. 400K+ pre-made, interactive videos

Mobile delivery environment I want to talk about 2 announcements and enhancements to the PlayPosit experience. First, we’ve launched our new mobile application that support video learning for students…

Offline learning Anywhere …and will soon even offer learners offline access so disadvantaged communities can take PlayPosit home on the bus. Our Teach For America-heavy team strongly believes in providing the same level of education resources to students in all socio-economic settings. Anywhere

The second announcement is we recently added two new recognitions to our belt, Stanford’s StartX and ATT’s Aspire Programs.

Susan Germer, Cofounder sue@playposit.com I’m Sue. We’re PlayPosit. Please come talk to me about how we can help you unleash the power of video learning. Susan Germer, Cofounder sue@playposit.com
