What are the Five Senses? Hearing Seeing Smelling Tasting Touching
Hearing I use my ears to hear sounds. Sound waves vibrate into my outer ear. My brain tells me about the sound. Some sounds are soft, loud, noisy and soothing.
Seeing I use my eyes to see things. The pupil and cornea in my eye helps me see. My brain tells me what I see. Some things to see are colors, shapes, people and animals.
Smelling I smell with my nose. There are millions of cells inside my nose. Those cells tell my brain what I am smelling. Some smells are nice, fresh, bad and stinky.
Tasting I use my tongue to taste food. The tiny taste buds on my tongue are divided into taste areas. The brain tells me a good or bad taste. The taste areas are bitter, sour, salty and sweet.
Touching I touch with my hands. There are special cells in my skin. They tell the brain what I am touching. Some things are soft, rough, hot and cold.
