Continuous Improvement Continuous improvement is spending time and effort every day to make your job safer, easier, improve quality, and make it better. Examples 5S in your area Identifying a safety or quality issue and fixing it. Improving your standard work Participating in your plant’s ideas program.

Not chaos Continuous Improvement could be chaotic, if everyone did their own improvements. The way continuous improvement should work The process is standardized. I determine a way to improve the standard Everyone agrees to the new standard The standard is updated and everyone is trained on it.

Why is CI important for everyone Everyone has a sphere of influence. The plant manager can work on the whole plant, while an operator can improve their work station and process. To remain competitive in the current market place we need to: Know our current performance Continue to improve the performance of our jobthrough Continuous Improvement Why do you think continuous improvement is important for your facility?

Types of Continuous Improvement you can participate in Self directed 5S Ideas Finding and improving documentation Router errors Drawing errors Performing PM’s on your equipment Working with maintenance to fix issues with your equipment Formal RIE’s or kaizens Problem solving A3’s or 8D’s Continuous improvement teams What continuous Improvement activities have you participated in?t

Continuous Improvement – What to ask Yourself? You are the expert on your job, since you do it everyday. You know the process and equipment better than anyone else. Do you stop your work when you have a safety, quality, or process issue and notify your supervisor? When you see an error in your paperwork, do you notify the appropriate personnel?
