Objectives To involve parents and families in an organized, ongoing and timely manner in the planning, review and improvement of the Colorado Migrant Education Program To provide parents and families information on how they can support the academic achievement of their child(ren). And….
Parent Engagement and ID&R To engage parents within regional Identification and Recruitment Efforts because: Parents can be the greatest advocates for MEP Word of mouth is a great marketing tool Parents are the first to meet new people in their community
Opportunities Regional programs can: Provide appropriate ID&R training to parents Utilize State PAC representatives as “community connectors” Develop “referral cards” for parent use Develop “ask me about MEP” buttons/pins for parents and staff Organize recruitment events where parents shadow MEP staff
Now it’s your turn… Turn to an “elbow partner” and share one idea you’d like to try or share one idea on how you currently collaborate with parents for ID&R Be prepared to share with the whole group
