Comfort Zones

What is “comfort zone?” Your comfort zone is the space you like to have around you when you’re with other people. The size of your comfort zone changes as situations and the people involved change.

Different Comfort Zones Comfortable Situations Next to your best friend With your sister or brother Hugging parents Uncomfortable Situations With a stranger Talking with the principal Next to peers

Knowing Your Comfort Zone Once you determine your “comfort zone” in various situations, it’s important to give cues to other people to let them know that you’re not comfortable. Shift your body posture. Cross your arms in a “closed” position (indicating that you’re not open to closer contact). Facial expression can indicate that you’re not comfortable.

You Decide – Who is comfortable?
