Martin Luther King was born in this house more than 80 years ago.

The parents of the other children stopped their children going to school with her so she went to school all alone. Every day she had to have a guard walk her to school to protect her from all the people abusing and threatening her.

Many people listened to him talking and agreed with him.

Martin changed many people’s minds and new laws were made that were fairer to black people. When Martin died people all over the world were very sad.

Martin’s work was so important that to honour him and remember him every year in America there is a special day called, ‘Martin Luther King Day’. Stevie Wonder wrote a special song about him called ‘Happy Birthday’.
