HQMC MENTORING PROGRAM This brief provides an overview of employee development services available through your local training office as well as Marine Corps-wide leadership and career development opportunities. Human Resources and Organizational Management Branch

HQMC Mentoring Program Mentoring is a developmental relationship in which a more experienced person (the mentor) provides guidance, knowledge-sharing, and learning opportunities to a less experienced employee (the mentee). It is an effective way to provide professional development and to enhance learning between colleagues at different levels and stages of their career. Recommend the Mentor is two grades higher and outside of your Chain of Command Organizational and Workforce Management Section (ARHM), Naval Support Facility, Rm 2R255 Voice: 703-604-2755/4637 Fax: 703-604-6661 HROM Mentoring Website: http://www.hqmc.marines.mil/hrom/OrgWorkforceMgmt/MentoringProgram.aspx Explain why it is important to have someone outside of your change of command: you are more free to discuss job issues, new career fields, areas of improvement… without feeling that it will hurt you doing appraisal time.
