Challenger STS- 51L Crew The Challenger crew was headed to space on January 28, 1986. 73 seconds into launch the space shuttle exploded. All seven astronauts were lost. The Challenger Centers were started by the members of the families left behind to honor and continue the mission of the crew. Christa McAuliffe- was to be the first teacher in space Christa McAuliffe- was to be the first teacher in space. Her back-up, Barbara Morgan, became the first educator in space in 2007.

ROBOTIC ARMS ISOLATION REMOTE The Isolation (ISO) team and Remote (REM) team will be using robotic arms to pick up and transfer various objects.
ROBOTIC ARM CONTROLS CLOSE CLAW OPEN CLAW DIAGRAM THAT TELLS YOU These are the joysticks used to move the robotic arms. Just follow the diagram. NEVER move both joysticks at the same time, unless you move one forward and one backwards simultaneously. This will move the claw and arm either forward or backward. If you move the joysticks at the same time in any other fashion, the robotic arm will stick. Then you will have to give it a 6 second break to unstick before it will move again.
