The Difference Between Climate and Weather Climate is the weather over a long period of time. Weather is produced by heat,air pressure,winds,and moisture also weather is just the way the air around you changes all the time.Most importantly,weather is the way water changes in the air.

Tropical Climate Zone Tropical climates receive a lot of sunlight and are very warm. This zone gets 200 - 400 inches of rain.There are many different kinds of plants and animal species.

Temperate Climate Zone The weather in temperate climates is never too extreme. Summers are very dry. Winters are cool and wet.

Desert Climate Zone Deserts barely receive any rain. The desert’s air is so hot when rain does fall it can evaporate before it reaches the ground!

Polar Climate Zone Polar climates are the coldest climates on earth. Temperatures are extremely low. The Arctic and Antarctica have similar climates, but they are at opposite ends of the earth.

Rain is coming! Rain is little drops of water coming down from the sky.The clouds get full of water and then when they get a lot of water the rain comes down. One type of cloud is named cumulus. When the cumulus clouds are dark that means that it is going to rain.

SLEET! Sleet is snow that melts into ice crystals. It travels through cold air. Sleet comes down as snow and turns into ice crystals as it comes down.

SNOW IS COMING!! Snow usually falls from cold and low clouds. Snow falls in cold air and never melts on the way down.

TORNADOS!! Tornados are natures most destructive storms. Tornados happen when cold air tries to squeeze through hot air.

Extreme Weather of Tornados Tornados are a powerful twisting column of air that makes contact with the ground. Tornados can last for an hour or more. Most tornados are local storms.

HURRICANES! Hurricanes form during the warmer months. Hurricanes are large, spinning wind systems that develop over warm seas.

TSUNAMIS!!! Tsunamis are big giant waves that happen in the ocean and come and destroy houses, cars, and people. Tsunamis travel in circles that grow wider and wider.
