1. Fredonian rebellion: The Edwards brothers make settlers living on their land show proof they own the land or lose it. Mexican government over rules them  The Edwards upset & create their own republic of Fredonia The Edwards ask Austin’s colony and the U.S. for help but don’t get any!

2. Mier y Teran report: Manuel de Mier y Teran goes to Texas & says the U.S. influence is growing. The Mexican government creates a new set of laws  Law of April 6, 1830 so they don’t lose Texas.

3. Law of April 6, 1830: Causes: Effects: Mier y Teran report New Anglo settlers outnumber the Mexican residents Colonization Laws of 1825 Effects: Prohibits immigration only from the U.S. to TX Outlaws bringing new slaves to Texas Trade with U.S. restricted ANGLO SETTLERS UPSET

4. Anahuac & Turtle Bayou Resolution Lawyers don’t pay customs duties  arrested. Texans get cannon from Brazoria to free lawyers. Texans had to pledged loyalty to Mexico and Santa Anna. Texans only support Santa Anna as president because he promised to support the (Federalist) Constitution of 1824
