What is DAAWS Disabled Australian apprentice wage scheme A funding source provided by the Federal Government to employers and registered training organisations (RTO’s) like TAFE, for the provision of tutorial and mentoring support to apprentices and trainees with a disability

Workplace modifications How can daaws benefit an apprentice with a disability as well as their employer? TAFE Tutorial Support $5500 pa TAFE Mentor Support $5500 pa DAAWS Payments EMPLOYER Workplace modifications $5500 pa

How can daaws benefit an apprentice/ trainee with a disability? Tutorial support: DAAWS Apprentices can receive tutorial support during their studies at TAFE. This can either be in or out of class and is always based on the individual needs of our students. Mentor Support: Each Apprentice will be mentored for the duration of their apprenticeship. Our DAAWS Student Contact Officers will closely monitor the progress of our Apprentices and refer to additional services as required. Employer Incentives: The Employer of a DAAWS Apprentice receives an incentive in the form of DAAWS payments for employing and Apprentice with a disability. This is $5,500 per annum, over $20,000 for the duration of an apprenticeship.

How does an apprentice become eligible for daaws funding Apprenticeship secured Sign up with Apprenticeship Support Network (ASN) DAAWS Application commenced by ASN 1288: Completed by Employer and Apprentice then forwarded to RTO(TAFE) for completion 608A completed by DES (NOVA) based on Job Capacity Assessment DAAWS approval granted by ASN for 12 month period Apprentice enrolls at TAFE Apprentice interviewed by Disability Teacher Consultant and support commenced based one needs of the student Apprentice is mentored by DAAWS Student Contact Officer
