The recent Google password security enhancement will require students to change their password to one that is longer and contains a series of numeric, alphabetical, and special characters.    The IT Department will be making the following update to student passwords by adding: "D", "s", "current numeric password", "!". For example: if a student's current password is: 123456 their new password will be:Ds123456! *If at any time a student forgets their password it can be found in Aeries on the Supplemental Page under Student Password.

Activate Prior Knowledge CFU Learning Objective We will determine how to find the Tangent1 and Circumscribed2 Angles around the Circle. What is Tangent?_____. What is Circumscribed?_____. CFU Activate Prior Knowledge Inscribed Quadrilateral Inscribed Angle Theorem states that the measure of an inscribed angle is equal to half the measure of its intercepted arc. In an inscribed quadrilateral, the opposite angle measures add up to 180 .° On your whiteboard, Find the value of z and find angle V. Activate Prior Knowledge CFU Students, you already know how to find inscribed angles in a circle. Today, we will learn how to find the Tangent and Circumscribed Angles around the Circle.. Make Connection 1 A straight line that touches the circle at one point only. 2 draw (a triangle) around circle, touching it at points, but not cutting it. Vocabulary

Concept Development JK = JM On your whiteboard, solve for x and find the length of QR & QT CFU

Concept Development A diagram can be used to illustrate the properties of tangents and a circumscribed angle.   CFU Whiteboard: Suppose AB = 5x − 21 and AD = 2x + 63. What equation can you write to solve for x? CFU Are supplementary

1. On your whiteboard, In the figure, Skill Development/Guided Practice A circumscribed angle is an angle whose rays are tangent to a circle. If radii are drawn to the point of tangency, they form an angle with the center of the circle as the vertex. That angle is supplementary to the circumscribed angle. 1. On your whiteboard, In the figure, XY is a radius of circle X, and ZY is a tangent. 2. On your whiteboard, In the figure, AD and DC are radii of circle D. BA and BC are tangents.

Relevance Reason #1: Used in the field of Engineering: A communications satellite is in a synchronous orbit 22,000 miles above Earth’s surface. Points B and D in the figure are points of tangency of the satellite signal with the Earth. They represent the greatest distance from the satellite at which the signal can be received directly. Point C is the center of the Earth Relevance Reason #2: Knowing how to Tangent and Circumscribed Angles will help you do well on tests: (PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc..).
