Relaxed Story Telling: “I need to check something on the computer.” 2-3 minutes were given to “talk amongst yourselves,” unstructured. When you are talking in class with friends, you are more animated. Approach this story telling presentation in a more relaxed and excited fashion.

Handshaking: I shook over 200 hands in the last week. Turn to your neighbor. Shake their hand. Evaluate your neighbor’s handshake. Was it: weak, limp, firm, painful, sweaty? Quick tips to a good handshake: Be firm, or match the grip of their hand. “Shake” 2-3 times. Hold about 2-5 seconds. Keep palms perpendicular to the floor. Eye Contact is a must. Be sure you are standing.

You MUST: Start your story with: Focus on a specific single moment. A preview of your topic & “So there I was…” This gets us immediately into the action. Focus on a specific single moment. Don’t tell about an entire weekend or day, use detail to bring the audience in. Use dialogue & characters. Take someone’s words & voice. Gesticulate. Make your presentation visually appealing. Make notes of where you’ll do this.
