Online Registration

Registration Overview Open from Feb 23 – Mar 17 Link sent by email to teachers Will take about 3 minutes to register Before students start, make sure they: Know how to spell your name Have a title for their project Know their T-shirt size (these are adult sizes) Team registration All team members should be present to register together If a team has more than 5 students Have 5 of them register together online Email me with the Project Title and the names & tshirt sizes of the additional students

Registration Overview After registration closes, a list of your students and their information will be sent to you to check that Everyone has registered Your name is spelled correctly Your students’ names are spelled correctly Project titles are appropriate and free of misspellings Students have correctly identified their school Please respond with any corrections ASAP. This information will be used to print our STEM Expo program.

What to expect at the stem Expo

At the STEM Expo If you wish, we will pick up completed poster boards from your students and set them up at their assigned table Students will be responsible for taking the poster boards home with them There will NOT be an opening address There will be photos of the event, but take ones of your students if you want to be sure you have a photo record of everyone Students will have a specified time to stand by their projects, and a specified time to visit other projects Can start setting up as early as 5:00

At the STEM Expo Open to the public from 6-8pm Representatives from STEM industries & higher ed will have tables STEM Ambassadors from industry and higher ed will be walking around and talking with students. They will wear a badge that identifies them with this info Name Institution or Career Ask me about …(STEM Topic)

At the STEM Expo Students should be encouraged to interact with the public Questions they should be prepared to answer include: How did you choose this topic for your project? What was something unexpected that you learned? What was your greatest challenge? How would you like to see your project (findings) used? Have you considered working in a STEM career? What would you find rewarding? If you had time and resources, what would you do next? What are some interesting student projects you have seen here at the STEM Expo?

Speaking to the public Talking to People Presenting Yourself Write a 2 minute "speech" summarizing your project. Make a list of questions you think people will ask you Review your background research. Practice explaining your project to others Practice explaining your project in simple terms Wear your STEM Expo T-shirt Make good use of your display board. Be positive and enthusiastic! Be confident with your answers. It is okay to say “I do not know.” It is okay to ask questions of your visitors.
