Students Are #1; Families Are #2! We encourage families to BE INVOLVED! Look in the Mr. Zippy every day! Come visit the classroom and your children on Family Fridays and other special days! Become a school volunteer!  Read and talk with your child every day! Make sure all your contact and health information is correct!

Talk, Talk, Talk! Oral Language Reading Writing Children who hear more sentences and words, tend to have larger vocabularies and a deeper understanding of grammar. Talk to your child by building upon what they are saying and asking open-ended questions, instead of questions requiring a “yes” or “no” answer.

Speech-Language Pathology Services Does your child: Have difficulty understanding directions that he/she hears? Experience difficulty expressing him/herself with words such as using appropriate vocabulary or sequencing information? Have difficulty speaking clearly, or producing accurate sounds in speech? Demonstrate stuttering, or concerns related to vocal quality (e.g. hoarse voice)? Exhibit limited verbal skills, reluctance to speak, or is nonverbal?

Speech-Language Pathology Services SLPs can help! Talk to your child’s new kindergarten teacher to share your concerns. Share concerns early in the year. The teacher can help refer your child to the school SLP to begin support and consultation.
