Proposal for a Facilitative Organizational Structure Discovery Learning Center Proposal for a Facilitative Organizational Structure

Discovery Learning Center Will Become: A Landmark at Purdue where faculty and student collaborations across schools lead to explorations of new technologies and pedagogies related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning A Beacon to educators and the general public in Indiana, the nation and beyond for advances in STEM learning

Discovery Learning Center More Specifically: “The Learning Center will provide opportunities for faculty, students and pre-service and in-service teachers to gain new skills, to learn new technologies and to participate in the excitement of discovery.”

Discovery Learning Center Will Include: Flexible classroom and laboratory space State of the art auditoriums IMAX Theater Interactive museum highlighting rich history of discovery at Purdue Offices and seminar rooms for grant-supported faculty, staff and students

Discovery Learning Center Some Basic Assumptions: Faculty development & support critical for success Mentoring of faculty essential to sustaining success Need to “grow” infrastructure to support dynamically evolving initiatives Discovery and engagement activities are to be supported through external funding Active engagement and support of STEM leadership at Purdue essential
