Matthew 7:21-2921 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Who is the wise person in this illustration. Look at verse 24 Who is the wise person in this illustration? Look at verse 24. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Who is the foolish person? Look at verse 26. “Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.” What is the difference between these two individuals? Both of them heard Jesus’ words. Both of them have listened to this sermon. Both built!! The difference is one person did what Jesus said and the other did not.

The Wise Man … Heareth the sayings of the Lord… He doeth what the Lord sayeth… Foundation: Rock - Solid – Truth!

The Foolish Man He heareth these sayings of mine And Doeth them not… He builds but not upon a solid foundation- Foundation: Sand

This is a simple sermon. Yet, it is about some important Decisions we make in our lives. Jesus had taught in Matt. 7:13-14 the importance of following the narrow way. It was difficult, but its followers would be led to live forever in the kingdom of God. Forever…Not just a few years, or a few hundred years, ..but throughout Eternity.

2. Those of you who are listening to my words and will Will obey –do them…here is the reward: Your house Will stand forever. All the power of the devil, all the arrows against it Will not prevail. It is simple: Hear my words …and do Them and you will be Wise. 2. Those of you who are listening to my words and will Not obey..will not do them…here is your reward. Your House will fall. And great will be fall of it.!

1. What Jesus says about the church… There is one body. Eph.4:4-6.. Not two, three or many… There is one. And Jesus is its head. Col. 1:18 2. What Jesus says about eternity. Matt. 7:13-14 There are those who will be saved…and tells us who they are (Wise builders..hearing, and doing…and building upon a solid foundation.)

4. There is one Lord.. He is King of Kings, and Lord of 3. There is one baptism. Eph.4 :4-8 a) The Eunuch was told about this baptism. Acts 8:36-38 b) People on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:36-38 c) The Corinthians.. Acts 18:9 And it is clear in his teaching: Mark 16:15-16 4. There is one Lord.. He is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Eph.4 :4-6 Remember his teaching in Matt. 7:21—23. Just to call him Lord is not sufficient. Show Him that He is your Lord by hearing his words and doing them.

5. There is one life to live to prepare for meeting the Lord. Yes, the Bible makes is clear that we shall all be judged 2 Cor. 5:10 ; Acts 17:30-31 and that we shall all die. Heb. 9:27 Ecl.9:5 The living know that they shall die.

Wise or Foolish? Which one are you? The simple sermon yet powerful one of Jesus should be listened to and obeyed. No one will miss heaven who is prepared to go there. No one will go there who is unprepared.

The Storm is coming. Will your house stand, or will you suffer The greatest of all tragedies?

What decision will you make today?

Will you listen and obey Jesus?
