The country lies outside the cyclone belt and enjoys a stable weather system with a shade temperature of around 25 to 31 degrees Celsius all year round. It enjoys an average of 7.2 hours of sunshine per day and receives over 2000 mm of rain per year. The population was estimated at 93,000 and with a growth rate of 1.7%. About 95% of the population lives on the three main islands, Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
