God chose the foolish 1 Cor 1:26-27 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.  But God chose the foolish things of the world If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

1 Cor 1:18-29 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;     the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” 20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its

1 Cor 1:18-29 wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.  22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

1 Cor 1:18-29 26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.

God chose the foolish Luke 24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.

God chose the foolish Luke 24 13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;  16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

Foolish desire On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb… but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? John 20:11-13  Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying… “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Foolish dedication Acts 5:35 Then he addressed the Sanhedrin: “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. 36 Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. 37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.

Foolish desire 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them… 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Foolish desire Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Foolish desire 2 Samuel 6 20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!” If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Foolish desire 2 Samuel 6 21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes.  If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Foolish dedication 13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem… 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over…” 33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Join with me in suffering for the gospel Foolish dedication 2 Tim 1:8 Join with me in suffering for the gospel If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.

Foolish dedication Job 1:1-8 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters… 4 His sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified.

Foolish dedication Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom… 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

Leonard Ravenhill Foolish dedication “The world has lost the power to blush over its vice; The Church has lost her power to weep over it.” Leonard Ravenhill If you want to meet with Jesus, sometimes you might need to appear foolish.
