Figure 1 Lineage of the 2009 Swine Influenza Virus Influenza A viruses have a segmented negative-sense RNA genome that encodes up to 11 proteins including the surface glycoproteins hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) and the virulence factors NS1 (host interferon antagonist) and PB1-F2 (proapoptotic factor).
