I can identify and use SUBJECT PRONOUNS. Standards Focus: ELAGSE6L1a. Ensure that pronouns are in the proper case (subjective, objective, possessive). Learning Target: I can identify and use SUBJECT PRONOUNS.

What is a pronoun? It’s a word used instead of a noun (or a phrase containing a noun) Example: `He', `it', `who', and `anything' are pronouns. When the pronoun is the subject (the person doing the action) of the sentence, it is called a Subject Pronoun. Example: Bob is swimming. He is swimming. Subject Subject Pronoun

What are the English subject pronouns? Singular Plural 1st person I We 2nd person You 3rd person He, She, It They

Let’s Review! A subject pronoun is exactly what it sounds like: a pronoun that takes the place of a noun as the subject of a sentence. Remember, a sentence’s subject is the person or thing that performs the action of a verb.

Can be singular or plural Can be masculine or feminine Can be gender neutral The subject pronoun “it” can be used to refer to animals of unspecific gender, and it is also appropriate to use the subject pronoun “it” to describe a baby of unknown gender.

One of the easiest ways to identify a subject or subject pronoun is to remember that it is always going to be the who or what that has a direct effect on the action that’s taking place.

You can use a subject pronoun as the subject of a sentence or clause. It tells who is doing something, and it is usually at the beginning of the sentence. You can also use a subject pronoun after a linking verb (like am, is, are, was, were, or be).

The subject pronoun I is the subject of the sentence. Example 1: After finishing the experiment, I showed my teacher the results. Who showed the teacher the results? The subject pronoun I is the subject of the sentence.

The subject pronoun she is used after a linking verb, was. Example 2: Yes, it was she who won first place. Who won first place? The subject pronoun she is used after a linking verb, was.
