Orthographic Projection & Line Types Mr. Fisher

Essential Question -What are the drawing techniques that are needed for orthographic projection? -What are the views needed for this drawing style?

Orthographic Projection A drawing that contains 3 views of the object Contains projection lines Shows the 3 principles of dimension Width Height Depth

Top View Top View Most important view Shows the width and depth Most important view Avoid showing hidden lines in this view It is located directly above the front view

Front View Shows the length and height

Right Side Shows the Depth and Height of object Positioned to the right of the front view

Position of Views All of the views must be in line to create the projection lines.

Line Types Hidden Center Coinciding Construction

Hidden Lines Shows the hidden aspects of the object

Center Lines Used to show where the circle is located on the image

Coinciding Lines Visible and hidden lines Hidden and center lines the visible line is shown Hidden and center lines the hidden line is shown
